What to Expect!
Something that is often overlooked in its value as it involves the rehab process is knowing what to expect from the treatment session prior to the treatment. For those individuals who are utilizing Bayliff Integrated Wellness for the Wellness services, i.e. stretching and soft tissue mobilization in order to proactively maintain current health, one can anticipate a relaxed, heavy feeling. Some may even feel mildly sore. The reason for these side effects is that the body’s tension retains lactic acid and other waste products. Stretching and soft tissue mobilization releases this tension, which, in turn, allows for these products that have been stagnant to now flow through the body. Rest assured that any soreness that may occur is short lived and the person then will recognize the benefits of taking care of their body! It is highly recommended to hydrate following each session. These same side effects are quite common when one receives treatment that is requiring a more therapeutic intervention. Tissue that is in an irritable state (in spasm, strained, inflamed, for example) is more likely to respond with soreness following an initial session of treatment. This is due, in part, to the fact that the present state of the tissue has been changed. Additionally, with a spasm, a strain, or inflammation, once again we see the presence of lactic acid and other waste products. Encouraging a flushing of these by-products can often result in the onset of soreness within 12 hours of the treatment.
